What is the best time of year to fish Drake Bay?
We love fishing all year in Drake Bay! If you prefer dry weather, we recommend visiting between December and August.
What should I bring?
Bring sunscreen, a sun shirt with SPF, a hat, and sunglasses.
We provide cold drinks and snacks. For full-day tours, we also provide lunch.
Can I pay with card?
Yes. We will send you a secure link after the trip to process your card payment. You can also pay with cash at the time of your trip.
Is fishing suitable for beginners?
Yes, fishing trips are great for all levels of experience. Our guides provide different levels of instruction and guidance depending on your level. You will be able to do every part of the process.
Is it a family-friendly activity?
Yes! Our guides have extensive experience hosting fun fishing trips for people of all ages.
Is the fishing trip private?
Yes. The boat will be just your group and your guides.
What equipment is included?
We provide all equipment including different types of poles, reals, and lures.
What kind of boat will we fish on?
Our boat is a center console Panga with 200 HP motor. It has depth sounder, GPS, radio, and cold drinks.
Can I keep the fish?
Yes, your fish are yours to keep. We can recommend local restaurants to cook them for you and we will drop the fish off there to be prepared.
Do you offer half-day fishing?
Yes. Half-day fishing tours will stay closer to shore and target rooster fish, snapper, and grouper.
Do you offer offshore fishing?
Yes. On full-day fishing trips, we will go further out for bigger fish including wahoo, marlin, and yellowfin tuna.
Can I combine fishing with snorkeling?
Yes. Contact us and tell us what your ideal day is, and we will make it happen!
Where should I stay?
Poor Man's Paradise is run by the family of the owner of Blue Horizon Tours. They have excellent food and lodging and are right on the edge of both the beach and the jungle.
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes, you will need to buy a fishing license for the day.
